Meet Dave

I was born at Roper Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina and lived their until I was 17. I moved to Kermit, West Virginia to get away from "the city life" so I could hunt and fish more often. At 19 I met my wife in Church and a few months later we got married and have been for the last 30 years. We have two boys that are grown up and we still live in the Kermit area today.

I started my adult life as a volunteer firefighter with the Kermit Volunteer Fire Department and the Dunlow Volunteer Fire Department starting in 1990 spanning through around 2015. In 1993 I got my Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) certification and in 1998 I went through school and got my Paramedic certification. In November of 1999 I joined the Army as a Combat Engineer and went on to Airborne School. After successful completion of Airborne Training I ended up landing at my first duty station of Fort Bragg, North Carolina with the 82nd Airborne Division where I deployed for the first time in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003.  In 2005 I reenlisted to go to the 1st Armored Division in Baumholder, Germany where I deployed again in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. I continued to serve as a volunteer firefighter and practicing paramedic through my entire enlistment as I would volunteer every time I was able to come home on leave. Unfortunately, I had to be medically discharged from military service for picking up asthma while I was in Germany in 2006. Upon leaving the Army I worked for Norfolk Southern Railways as a through freight conductor and a transportation/engineering supervisor trainee followed by being an Over the Road truck driver for the last few years.
